11 days, and I'm counting down. Predicting when the actual big day will come! Will it be the 18th? Will it be tomorrow? It's quite odd, I feel like I'm a ticking time bomb, as mark said.... I just never know when it's going to happen.
I'm feeling great, physically, besides my swollen ankles and my hands are a lil puffy. BUT my blood pressure is great, so my doc isn't too concerned - this is good! I'm exhausted, cause I have difficulty sleeping... maybe when the baby comes I can get 2-3 hours of uninterupted sleep... i'm currently up every hour and a half making trips to the potty.... ohh lucky me.
The babes area is all setup, crib is ready for baby, clothes have been washed and folded - just need to bring him home so I can put all this great stuff to use.
We had birthing class last night and the nurse is really wonderful who gives the class, she brought us up to the birthing center, and showed us how to bathe a babe.... the lil babe was less than 24 hours old, and she was a peanut, weighing a lil more than 5 lbs..... and a pediatrician came in and talked to us about all the things NOT to worry about. I feel like a big sponge, I can't soak in enough of this information. I read and read and read.... but well, I've never really done this before, so it'll be a learning curve for all of us, but like the sweet nurse said, if you are caring for your baby and not being neglectful - you'll be fine, there are different ways of doing different things.
Two weekends ago we took a babymoon to Vermont. It was absolutely wonderful to spend the weekend with my love, where we were able to just enjoy one anothers company and focus on us.
Our days as a couple are coming to an end.... and soon we'll be a family.
It won't be long, before he is here... and I can't wait! I'm patiently (anxiously) awaiting his arrival!

44 Days
in 44 days (plus or minus) my life will be changed forever. Just wanted to give an update on my pregnancy. Went to the doctors on 10/2/08 for my 33 wk checkup. All is well, lost a pound, but that could have something to do wtih being stressed out, cause my dear mark was so sick (Doctors think it's Lyme). But we are not fretting, and I made up for it on Thursday night, and all day Friday, eating everything in sight. It's weird, it's like my boy gave me a signal that he was hungry... every 3 hours or so.. so I ate. My doctor made me smile on Thursday, as I was laying on the exam table and she was measuring my belly, she said, "i have to tell you, I do this everyday, but it's still pretty amazing, the fact that you are growing a little human being inside of you". I couldn't agree more, i grow baby and produce milk... it's like super human powers i have, and i love em!!!
I've been somewhat uncomfortable lately, as he does acrobats in my belly - well, lets face it, there just isn't enough room for him to be doing acrobats. Sometimes it tickles, sometimes it feels like when you hit your funny bone -it hurts; but not like a real pain. The hiccups continue; quite frequently. I cure them with Kool-aid or lots of water, and the occassional cup of sugar water. I'm feeling wonderful, I can't reitterate how much I really have enjoyed my pregnancy. Sure, the pokes and jabs hurt occassionally, but other than that.... life is great. Still no water retention in my face, and nothing is swollen. I'm a lil surprised, considering I know I could exercise a lot more than I do but.. *pff* it's not happenin. haha.
I'd love to share a crazy dream I had just last night; I was walking around and began to feel a probe in my lower abdomen, i looked down, and there was an outline of a hand, i squeezed it, but was able to grab on to hold it, and the next thing I know, my skin stretched out and the itty bitty lil hand was trying to hit me in the face! seriously! what a crazy friggin dream. As I type this, i'm laughin hysterically, because it sounds so ridiculous.
We've rearranged the house lately. Mark just got enough energy yesterday after a week, and he worked hard! I love this man so much, i came home to find pictures hung on the wall, and the crib setup. What a guy!
Today is a busy day, we got a new stove being delivered, he's out doing errands this morning, and then as soon as the stove gets delivered we gotta go to Ikea in New Haven b/c one of the wood pieces for the cabinet is warped and it's gotta be returned. I just had some breakfast and now gotta get workin on operation baby k.

Next Summer
Next summer will be even better, cause I'll have one more to share my everything with. It's amazing how much I love you, yet I haven't even met you yet. I know you hear all the things daddy and I say to you, and I love it when you respond back with a lil kick or pitter patter, or even a flutter. I feel like we've already done so much together, heck you went to France, daddy hasn't even been there yet. You attended class at eastern, you've been to two red sox games, countless day trips all over new england, lets not forget fishin in Maine. You've been rubbed my many and talked about by more. Everyone is excited for your arrival.
You're my baby k and I can't wait to meet you!
For the most part, the past 7 months have been wonderful, with the exception of you hanging out in momma's ribs. You like to be a lil stinker and camp out there, for what started out as hours and has turned into days.... seriously, c'mon, you've got my whole belly, can't you hang out below the ribs? And staying up all night Kingston? you naughty boy.... let momma sleep now, please!
we are 29 weeks, with only 11 to go. Weight gain is 20 lbs.
Next checkup is 9/4/08 and then every two weeks there after!

Noticeable
At 27 weeks, I'm feeling wonderful! I love being pregnant! As time progresses my boy grows, which in turn makes my bump grow; and I love all the attention that comes with it now that I'm "looking pregnant". Seriously, people are sweet to the pregnant; and they should be... pregnant women make the world go round.
With the noticeable belly comes more advice and funny comments. We've rec'd advice about labor and delivery to spanking and much more. I've had one reachout from a stranger for a belly rub... I was actually quite shocked and quickly crossed my arms over my belly. Am I already being too protective of my boy? Nah.... what would she have done if I rubbed her nonprego belly *lol* that'd be funny. And well, I'm willing to share my kicks, friends are allowed to touch, heck sometimes I just reach out and grab a hand and place it on my belly if he's got some great movement going on, i love to share the love. :)
And well, let's face it, I'm not on my own in this whole thing. I love when mark has his evening talk with baby k and tells him how much he loves him and can't wait to meet him. This morning he was hugging me and told me he loves to hear two heart beats... it made me tear up. I just love him to death. Not to mention he's been wonderful with supplying my 10pm nightly ice cream needs and rubbing my achy legs.
As of my 26 wk check up last week I gained 16lbs! Doctor was content with that, as was I. Only real complaint is back pain, then again could have something to do with the 16 lbs being ALL in the front. It's a small price I'm willing to pay.
No weird cravings still; however, I enjoy eating salt on everything. Already have outgrown some of my maternity clothes...
13 more weeks and my baby k will be here. I love you Kingston, and can't wait to meet you!

Peanuts Name & Maine
The countdown has officially begun, now that I'm 23 weeks pregnant. With only 17 wks to go I realize I have a lot to do in order to get ready for this lil peanut.
We've officially decided on a name; Kingston Irving Rhodes. I know it's "different" and it's not ordinary, but we love it, we call him "Baby K" for short. Kingston, dervied from my favorite musician's son. Irving is Mark's middle name; and he was named after his grandfather.
What's in a name? Does it make the person, or does the person make the name?
Belly measurement is 37 inches around. I'm lovin it. I feel him move constantly, and Mark has been able to also share in on it too! The feeling I get when I feel him move around is absolutely amazing; it just makes it so real.
I'm back to eating everything, no odd food aversions. Feeling great overall.
This past weekend, we went to Maine and had a wonderful time! Who'd think you'd find me, pregnant on a lobster boat pulling lobsters out of the lobster pot, and putting rubber bands around their claws, it was thrilling to say the least! I loved seeing the Star fish in the cages! Then on Saturday we went fishing all day, what a day, I caught several bass fish; however only one made it into the boat... haha, the others got away. And on Sunday we enjoyed Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain. Life in Maine is a lot different than CT to say the least, everythings a lil slower in Maine, everything! All in all it was a great time and we were able to take a break from work and life to just relax; it was well overdue.

Half way
20 weeks, and I'm halfway thru my pregnacy! It's been truly wonderful thus far. Lots of new feelings lately. As my stomach is growing, I feel the constant stretch of my skin constantly. I don't remember growing pains as a child; however, from what mark says, it sounds like it's similiar to growing pains. I may only have a small bump at this point, but I'm completely uncomfortable at night, I now use a huge body pillow that acts as a divider and then i have my "china pillow" that i put under the belly.... it's a whole new world.
And my boy is a kickin all the time, he's quite active. I sometimes wonder if he's got a mini bike in there and is ridin it around.... cause there's a lot of comotion going on.
some fun things.....
we measured my bump - it was 34 inches. :)
none of my "regular" clothes fit.
i'm eating pizza and red sauce again.
my new favorite ice cream combo is mint chocolate chip with butterfingers.

The big news
Well, Mark and I went to the doctors yesterday... I got up on the big table, laid down, and the doctor took a look with her ultrasound machine. We saw the skull, the chest and abdomen cavity, the lil heart and the ventricles pounding, two legs, two arms and.....and an extra part that only boys require!
That's right, we are having a boy!!!
I must admit that biology class a few years ago came in quite handy as she was labeling parts I could actually follow the doc. Mark and I are thrilled - as are our parents.
So happy to share my great news with everyone....
we are still working on the name.... I'll do a perspective name blog soon.
Other than that, things are great, doc says everything looks healthy, and my next appt is in 4 wks. Currently 18 wks... almost half way done! :)
